Easy Pantry Reset

The Spring Equinox always makes us feel like it’s time for a fresh start. The days get longer, the sun hangs around past dinner, and suddenly everyone has the urge to organize something. Closets…Garages…

…That one kitchen cabinet where the oils and vinegars live…You know the one. Open it up and you’ll probably find a lineup of bottles that are technically not empty… and emotionally very available.

A tablespoon of olive oil here—A heroic splash of balsamic there—that vinegar you bought for a recipe three winters ago and now just nod politely at every time you open the cupboard.

Naturally, the idea of a “pantry reset” sounds great. But let’s be realistic for a second.

Just because the calendar says spring, doesn’t mean we’re suddenly eating strawberry salad on the patio. Around here the weather is still doing that classic early-spring thing where it warms up just long enough to give you hope… and then immediately throws a chilly evening your way.

Which is perfect, because those cozy winter flavors still have a job to do. This is their final act.

Use Up the Cozy Stuff

Instead of staging a dramatic pantry purge, just pull those nearly-empty bottles to the front of the shelf and start using them a little more deliberately.

A drizzle here. A splash there. A confident little shake over something roasted.

Before you know it, those bottles will quietly finish themselves off without you ever feeling like you were trying.

It’s the culinary equivalent of letting winter flavors take their final bow while the weather is still cooperating.

The "Almost Empty" Shelf

If you want to feel wildly organized, create a small finish-me-first zone in your pantry. All the nearly empty bottles go there. That almost-empty balsamic? It would love one more round with roasted vegetables. The olive oil clinging to the bottom of the bottle? Perfect for sautéing greens or finishing a warm grain salad. Even the vinegar in the back of the cabinet—the one you’re not totally sure about anymore—can absolutely redeem itself in a quick vinaigrette.

Then We Go Full Spring

That’s when the fun part starts.

Once those bottles are empty, bring them into the shop and we’ll refill them with fresh oils and vinegars for the new season. Spring flavors tend to be brighter, lighter, and a little more energetic—beautiful extra virgin olive oils, citrusy notes, herb-infused oils, and lively white balsamics that make salads, seafood, and vegetables suddenly taste like sunshine.

Think of it as spring wardrobe shopping… but for your kitchen. You walk in with a few empty bottles. You leave with a completely new flavor lineup.
