A Time for Red Wine
Red wine and waning winter can make for a cozy and enjoyable combination. As the days become longer but the weather is still cool, sipping on a rich and flavorful red wine can be a great way to enjoy the end of our coldest season. Some red wines that are perfect for winter’s end include Cabernet Sauvignons and red blends with medium to full body and rich flavors. These wines pair well with warm winter meals like hearty stews, robust soups and roasted veggies or meats.
Sophisticated
The slower pace of the shoulder season between winter and spring is perfect to enjoy a good red wine. Red wine has long been associated with sophistication, elegance, and refinement. It is often considered a luxurious drink, enjoyed by those with a discerning palate and an appreciation for the finer things in life.
One reason for this association is the complexity and depth of flavor that red wine offers. Good quality red wines are made from carefully selected grapes, and they go through a meticulous process of fermentation and aging, resulting in unique blends of flavors and aromas.
Take a Breath
The ritual of serving and drinking red wine also adds to its perception as a sophisticated drink. The wine is typically decanted or aerated before serving, and it is often served in special stemware that is designed to enhance its aroma and flavor. This attention to detail and the ceremony involved in serving red wine can make it feel truly sumptuous.
