Summer is Heating Up

Whether your ideal summer is tropical sand and sun, or camping in Door County, we can help you relax and enjoy the scenery. So, raise a glass to a return to simple pleasures: easy cocktails, with friends and family!

Cool Cocktails

Great summer drinks should be cold, delicious, and relatively easy to make. Cue the relaxing summer drinks made easy with vomFASS juicy liqueurs! Our Caipirinha Lime and Sour Cherry liqueurs (both vodka and gin based) are simple, refreshing libations by themselves over ice (cubed or shaved) or blended with ice as adult slushies. They also lend themselves to a myriad of easy-to-make cocktails!

Caipirinha

Cai..what??? Caipirinha (kai-purr-REEN-yah) – this bright lime liqueur is based on the national drink of Brazil. Light, cold, and incredibly refreshing, it is no wonder it is so popular in such a warm country. The traditional Caipirinha cocktail is made with muddled lime, sugar, and cachaça. And, vomFASS Caipirinha Lime Liqueur follows suit. Lime is front and center in this sweet and tangy liqueur (no muddling needed).

Build on the caipirinha by adding extra flavor or taking its flavor into a different style of drink. This lime liqueur can quickly morph into other enjoyable caipirinha variations, such as Cucumber Jalapeño (3 slices of cucumber muddled with a slice of fresh jalapeno, topped with 2 oz. caipirinha liqueur, ice and a club soda to taste) or Blueberry (substitute ¼ cup muddled blueberries for cucumber/jalapeno). Using these variations as an inspiration, see what new fruits, herbs, and other ingredients are at the produce market (strawberry basil, anyone?)

Rum vs Cachaça?

Caipirinha maybe the national drink of Brazil, but cachaça (ca-SHAW-sa) is the national spirit. It is often confused with rum because both spirits are derived from sugar cane. However, they are surprisingly different.

Rum is generally made from molasses. Cachaça, on the other hand, is made from fresh-pressed sugarcane juice which is then fermented and distilled. Both can be aged, but cachaça can only be aged in casks of native Brazilian woods. The cachaça brings a grassy, vegetal taste that is wonderful when enhanced with the lime.

Door County Essence

The flavor of sour cherries is synonymous with the Wisconsin’s summer playground, Door County. For only a few weeks each summer, pints or quarts of fragile, bright red sour cherries can be found at markets around Wisconsin. (Did you know majority of the country’s sour cherries are grown in Wisconsin and Michigan?)

Fortunately, the essence of the sour cherry can be found all summer in vomFASS Sour Cherry Liqueurs. Our customer favorite Sour Cherry with Vodka Liqueur now has a spunky sister in our Sour Cherry Gin liqueur! These bright and tangy cherry liqueurs work just as well as an ingredient in a wide array of cocktails as they do on their own. Check out the recipes below.
