Straight-no-Chaser Boilermaker
Posted by Alayne Gardner-Carimi on
A favorite end-of-shift drink for laborers and bartenders alike, the name is rumored to have come from the 19th century steam engine workers (or boilermakers) who were particularly fond of the combination.
Ingredients: (serves one)
1.5 oz Lone Hawthorne Craft Beer Batch Irish Whiskey
Enjoyed on the rocks or in a glass, this celtic Whisky infuses the flavors of craft Stout beer with Irish Whiskey to create a refined Boilermaker experience. Historically, the Boilermaker is the easiest two-ingredient cocktail in existence. It consists simply of a shot of whiskey and a beer (poured into a pint glass or sipped straight from the bottle).
As basic as a Boilermaker is, there is some discussion about the proper way to consume it. Some say you should take the shot and then chase it with the beer; others say you should alternate sipping the beer and the shot; and still others prefer to drop the shot directly into the glass of beer and drink that. With the malty flavors of this whiskey married in one glass, Lone Hawthorne Craft Beer Batch Irish Whiskey may change the age-old discussion to "straight or on the rocks?"
