Door 44 Red Door
Red Door is made from the Marechal Foch grape, a cold climate grape varietal that was amongst the first grapes to be planted in the vineyards of Parallel 44 in 2005. Marechal Foch is an old-world grape varietal that has French origins, but now is predominately planted in both Wisconsin and Michigan. Originally this grape was planted in the Alsace region of France in areas experiencing colder winters and was named after a famous French General in World War. This grape is known to ripen early, which helps to avoid the risk of early frost. Marechal Foch’s versatility reflects styles ranging anywhere from a traditional earthy Burgundy to a more modern Beaujolais, and is likened to a Pinot Noir.
Utilizing a slower, cooler stainless-steel fermentation which highlight the grapes fruitiness. This easy drinking, dry red wine is well-balanced and light-bodied, with earthy undertones and flavors of black cherries, soft tannins and a smooth finish.
Pairing: This wine is meant for everyday drinking and pairs well with foods such as burgers, brats, pizza, and pasta. Also the perfect complement for grilled foods such as steak or barbecue chicken.
