Dark ruby core with crimson tones at the rim. The nose opens to warm black plum, Bing cherry, and dried herbs. On the periphery, you get nuances of lavender, dried violets, wild game, and licorice. The palate is full and spicy, with darker tones to the fruit, along with a hot, crushed-rock element. The spice and licorice pull through on a surprisingly long finish.

The Cornuds is a blend of Grenache and Syrah that is vinified in a mix of wooden and stainless steel tanks. The Syrah component is aged partially in oak barrel before the blend is completed. Showing the essence of both grapes, there are beautiful aromas of violets, blackberries, cherries and chocolate. It is silky and smooth and an ideal pairing for veal, lamb, game and slow cooked braises.

Made by the same family behind 100-point Rhône icon Château de Beaucastel.

Origin: Rhone, France
