Brick Barn Béton Chardonnay 2019
The 2019 Béton Chardonnay begins with complex aromas of orange blossom, lime zest, golden apple and nectarine. A sleek yet mouth filling palate delivers vibrant flavors of apricot, melon and citrus, all cascading into a juicy, balanced finish. The concrete influence is most notable in the wine’s dimensional textures, which include a refreshing sense of minerality.
This 2019 Chardonnay comes from estate grown grapes. Here, sandy riverbed soils foster pure varietal character in our Chardonnay, while the reliable marine breezes help maintain vibrant acidity right through full maturity.
Béton is the French word for concrete, reflecting the vision behind this wine: to create an elegant Chardonnay that displays the unique nuances gained from aging the wine exclusively in concrete. The grapes were harvested at night and pressed in the early morning. The new wine was aged for 8 months in a 900-gallon tank made from natural washed gravel, sand and well water.
